Lee James Gage was born on April 2, 1922 to James E. and Eva (Smith) Gage in Millville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Roland and William Bragg; five sisters, Clairiner Miner, Tommie W. Edwards, Helen Payne, Willie Mae Keener, and Dorothy Gage Oakley.
On August 6, 1941, Lee enlisted in the Army at Ft. Riley, Kansas where he met his beloved wife, Daisy Irene Roberson. They were married in Cheyenne, Wyoming on November 30, 1944 before he left for the European theatre of World War II on December 26, 1944. He served in the military until his honorable discharge on November 10, 1945 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal American Defense Ribbon for his service.
Lee and Daisy made their home in Junction City, Kansas and four daughters were born into this union. They were married sixty two years and were lifetime residents. His beloved wife preceded him in death August 29, 2007. He lived in Junction City, Kansas until February 2010 then moved to Harvest, Alabama to reside with his daughter and son-in-law due to his health. He remained in their home where they cared for him until his passing.
He received Christ at an early age and was baptized. He became a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church in 1956. Lee was an active member on the Deacon Board, choir, and was ordained into the ministry. He faithfully served the church and community in many capacities. He enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, baking, gardening, but he was especially fond of music. He joined the Notables, a community music group, and performed with them for many years. He also took part in community plays.
Our Heavenly Father called him home on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Madison Hospital of Huntsville; Madison, Alabama.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four daughters; Larraine Shingleton (James) of Harvest Alabama, Sheryl M. Woodruff of Topeka, Kansas, Brenda J. Gage and Barbara A. Souza (Robert) of Junction City, Kansas; one sister, Margree (Gage) White, Rockford, Illinois; seven Grandchildren; fourteen Great grandchildren; five Great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Home Going Services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 805 Caroline Ave., Junction City, Kansas, with Pastor Redo Purnell and Pastor James Callaway co-officiating. Private family burial will be held later at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Wheels of Hope, 804 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS 66441.
