Maxine McColey - Graveside Remembrance and Inurnment will be held June 8, 2019, 2:00 PM, Lake Creek Union Cemetery, on US 166, Bartlett, Kansas, 67332 (about 25 miles E of Coffeyville, KS). In the event of bad weather services will be held at Derfelt Funeral Home, 203 Illinois Street, Oswego, KS 67356


Maxine (Gilmore) McColey passed peacefully the morning of December 21, 2018. She lived a good life, loving and nurturing her family and many friends and always faithful to the Lord. She was able to make home be, wherever our hearts are.

Maxine was born on August 13, 1915, Tyro, Kansas, the middle child of Walter Jay and Ruth (Chritton) Gilmore.

Continuing to celebrate her 103 year life are her children Jerome M. (Ann) McColey, Janie J. (Aldo) Escobar, and Roma L. (Melvin) Robinson; her 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; along with 2 nephews and their families and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome in 1975, her parents, her siblings and their spouses, 3 nephews and a niece.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to: Leonardville Nursing Home, P O Box 148, 409 W Barton Rd, Leonardville, Kansas 66449.

Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, Kansas, is assisting family with cremation arrangements.
