SGT. (Retired) Barry W. Brasch, 78, of Herington, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City.

Barry was born August 15, 1941 in Oak Lawn, Illinois, the son of Glenn and Jean (Lawniegak) Brasch. Barry attended school in Illinois, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent over a 20 year career in the military, retiring in 1980 at Ft. Riley.

He was a member of the V.F.W. and Post # 12 of the American Legion, both of Herington.

Barry married Erika Jaeger May 6, 1975 in the Queens, New York. Erika survives of the home. Other survivors include: 3 sons, Barry Brasch, Jr. and his wife Theresa, Kingston, North Carolina, Peter Jaeger, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Michael Brasch, Herington; 2 sisters, Sharon Jandrousky and husband Tony, and Karen Scott, all of Kenosha, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Barry was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Terry Brasch.

It was Barry's wish to be cremated.

A Memorial Gathering will be 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave., Junction City. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley.

Memorial contributions in Barry's name may be given to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
