Marcene M. Allison, of Junction City, died Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kansas surrounded by her love ones. She was eighty-four years old.
Marcene was born November 9, 1934 to the late Olin H. Roles and Ida W. (Sautter) Roles. She was the youngest of six children, and was born at home in Alida, Kansas. Marcene attended grade school from first through seventh grade at Windsor School; a one-room school house in Dickinson county. During her primary school years, she was the only student enrolled in the whole school so she was able to complete her lessons and was dismissed at noon each day. When her family moved outside of Wakefield, she completed eighth grade and her high school years there. She graduated from Wakefield High School with the class of 1953.
Marcene moved to Junction City after graduation where she lived and worked for three years. She worked first at Hampton’s Clothing store, and then worked at two auto agencies in J.C: Coover Chevrolet and J.C. Motors. She was well-thought of and very detailed oriented which served her well because in those days, car titles were done on a manual type-writer with zero errors allowed.
On July 6, 1956, Marcene married Duane E. Allison at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Junction City. They moved to Wichita, Kansas in the Fall of 1956 to pursue employment and both secured positions at Boeing Aircraft Factory where they worked until 1958 when they moved back to Junction City, making it their permanent home.
While Marcene’s three children were young, she worked as a bookkeeper in her home for Triplett Inc. which meant she was always home after school for her kids. Also, this way Sandra, David, and Angela were able to even come home for lunch and the family always had good home-cooked meals at supper-time. Later, even though she worked outside the home, Marcene continued the tradition of home-cooked meals as a time for family to gather and talk about their day around the family table.
After thirteen years with Triplett, she worked for the accounting firm of Arnold Gfeller and Company in Junction City. Lastly, she worked at Fort Riley in Federal Civil Service where she worked in the Finance and Accounting Branch until her retirement in 1997. During her years there, she received five sustained superior awards from her supervisors.
Marcene is survived by a daughter Sandra Patton of Junction City, a son David Allison of Junction City, a daughter Angela Allison Owens and her husband Jody of Salina, a granddaughter Renee Patton Brown and her husband Joshua of Iantha, Missouri, a grandson Wesley Owens of Salina, great-grandchildren Hannah, Elijah, Jacob and Anessa Brown of Iantha, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Duane E. Allison; her parents; brothers, Paul, Ray, and Dean Roles; and sisters, Edra Roles Faidley and Cleo Roles Hoff.
Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
